YYZ and the Emirates A380

As you can probably imagine, I get a lot of traffic looking for info on the Emirates A380 and its comings and goings at YYZ. This is just a quick post to help those folks find what they're looking for and hopefully get a great view of her.

The Emirates A380 flight to and from YYZ is always identified with the same flight numbers.

  • Dubai to Pearson (arriving) is always EK 241 - also referred to as UAE 241
  • Pearson to Dubai (departing) is always EK 242 - also referred to as UAE 242

These flights are (generally) scheduled for the same times on the same days each week, which are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Arrival is usually somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00 PM on these days and departure will be around 10:00 PM the same day.  That said; always check the status of a flight you are really interested in. The flight may be running late, early or even cancelled for that day. It's easy enough to check online and even setup a flight alert so you know if something changes.

Here's one of many ways to check on the flight (using flightstats.com). Just make sure you are looking at the correct date on the flight, since this link gives you a history of past flights as well. The one at the top is most likely the one you want to look at. Also, note that the flights sometimes don't become active too far in advance, so you're best off to check for the flight on the day it should be scheduled:
UAE241 - Arriving at YYZ
UAE242 - Departing from YYZ

I know this isn't the most complicated or detailed post I've ever posted, but hopefully it will be useful for someone out there!

  2. You're welcome, and thanks for reading! They will generally use the same runway (23 or 05, which are the same runway just opposite landing direction) because it's the longest at the airport. It's not guaranteed though because it's mostly based on wind direction. Have a look at my Runway Usage post for a little more info:

  4. I'm in Hamilton (CYHM), what do you think the chances are that this monster will show up on labour day?

  5. Hello, thanks for the great info! I was at Wendy's location for the labour day and aug civic holiday mondays and it was great! However, yesterday (Oct 14 thanksgivng) I was dissapointed as flights were landing opposite direction west to east (runway 05?). The winds were calm and no different from past 2 visits. Could it be the relatively low and intense sun this time of year that would cause a change from the east to west (runway 23) landing? thanks again!

  7. Does it come in from Airport Rd or Dixie rd?

  8. It depends but it's usually from airport road and Orlando drive. If they are using runway 23 the plane flies in from the east and they come pretty close to airport road before touching down.

You can also use the flight aware ap that will show you all of the planes in the air and which direction they are flying in from. Hope this helps

  9. Does the A380 ever land coming over Derry Road? I see all the planes landing there right now but I know that the thread says it's always Over airport or Dixie. I don't wanna miss my chance to see her while I'm in town

  10. Hey Barry. The direction that it lands is completely based on wind direction so it's hard to predict. Things are also a little confusing right now because the primary runway (05/23) is under serious refurbishment and not in use. They should just come in with the rest of the landing traffic in whatever direction they're all using, but unfortunately there's no guarantee. If they're landing over Derry Rd, they are using 15L/15R, and my guess would be that the A380 would land on 15L because it's slightly longer than 15R, but I could be wrong. Don't want to be responsible for you missing it! Best of luck, and I hope you catch a great view!!
